1939 Chevrolet Master 85 2-Door Sedan Ohio Rental Added in Ohio

Old Cop Cars has added the 1939 Chevrolet Master 85 2-Door Sedan Ohio to its network listings through USA Movie Cars. The vehicle sits in Mason, Ohio, giving productions working in the state a local option for a pre-war sedan that can appear as either a civilian classic or an antique police car. Crews filming in Ohio can reach it without long-distance transport.

Spotlight on this 1939 Chevrolet Master 85 2-Door Sedan Ohio

The car shows a black exterior and beige interior in a two-door sedan body. It carries a 216.5 cubic inch six-cylinder engine rated at 85 horsepower and a three-speed manual transmission with vacuum assist, a feature first offered in 1939. The vehicle lists only 40,000 original miles and weighs between 2,780 and 3,010 pounds at the curb. These details help producers judge how the car will read on camera in period settings or as background texture.

Its documented connection to law enforcement work adds another layer for shoots that need an older patrol look. The same car can shift between civilian and police roles depending on the scene, which reduces the need for multiple vehicles on smaller productions.

Old Cop Cars and the Ohio Picture Car Market

Old Cop Cars focuses on law enforcement vehicles, yet the site also lists supporting civilian classics that fit the same era. The 1939 Chevrolet Master 85 2-Door Sedan Ohio expands that range for crews who need both cop cars and period civilian transport in one location. Mason, Ohio, places the vehicle inside the Cincinnati media market, which sees steady commercial, corporate, and independent film work.

USA Movie Cars works with state picture-car sites such as Ohio Picture Cars to help productions find local picture vehicles. This network approach lets location managers search Ohio movie car options first before arranging cross-state moves. The result is faster access to vehicles already based in Ohio for shoots that stay within state lines.

History of the 1939 Chevrolet Master 85 2-Door Sedan Ohio

The sedan was built in July 1939 at the GM Norwood Plant in Cincinnati, Ohio, and carries serial number 17,125 from that year’s production run. A total of 190,622 Master 85 models left the line in 1939. The vehicle stayed in the Cincinnati region for decades before moving to Mason, Ohio.

Its family ownership record begins with George Prentice Southwood, who purchased the car new. Southwood served as a Deputy Sheriff in Wayne County, Kentucky, then as City Marshal in Monticello and later Burnside. The car functioned as both his police vehicle and personal transport during his time in Burnside. After his death in 1948 the sedan remained with the family and received its first restoration in 1970. A second, two-year restoration returned it to service for a memorial event honoring Southwood. The current owner represents the fourth generation to hold the vehicle.

Ohio Picture Car Rental Uses

Productions can place the sedan in 1930s or 1940s street scenes, small-town establishing shots, or background traffic. Its black paint and simple lines work for both civilian and law-enforcement roles, so one vehicle can cover multiple needs across a schedule. Music videos and still photography shoots gain period texture without modern distractions.

Event and branded-content teams have already used similar cars for weddings and car shows, showing the vehicle’s flexibility outside strict film work. Ohio film car coordinators can book it for day or multi-day shoots that require a running, drivable classic rather than a static prop. The manual transmission and period details give sound and motion cues that match the era when directors want authentic movement on camera.
