Spotlight on this 1976 Ford GRAN TORINO

This 1976 Ford GRAN TORINO is finished in red with black interior and carries the two-door coupe body style. The listing notes that the car is currently in the final stages of restoration, with updated photos planned once small details are complete. It is built as a screen-accurate replica of the vehicle from season two of Starsky & Hutch, complete with period-correct police equipment arranged as a detective car.

Equipment includes a Motorola radio mounted to the transmission hump, a Federal PA-20 siren on the passenger side, and a Federal Fireball magnetic roof light. Additional modifications listed are a 408 ci Cleveland V8 engine, C6 automatic transmission with trac-lok rear end, aftermarket power locks with alarm, HI-JACKER air shocks, period-correct large white vector stripe, air conditioning, heated front seats, and power steering and brakes. The car is described as reliable for daily driving and long trips.

Old Cop Cars and the Ohio Picture Car Market

Old Cop Cars focuses on law-enforcement and period police vehicles, yet this Gran Torino fits the site because it is configured as an undercover detective car with authentic equipment. Ashtabula, Ohio sits in the northeastern part of the state, giving crews working in Cleveland, Youngstown, or along the lakefront a closer source for this style of vehicle.

USA Movie Cars works with state picture-car sites such as Ohio Picture Cars to help productions find local picture vehicles without repeated cross-country searches. The network connection lets Old Cop Cars list the 1976 Ford GRAN TORINO while still directing inquiries through the central USA Movie Cars system.

History of the 1976 Ford GRAN TORINO

The Gran Torino nameplate appeared in the early 1970s as Ford’s intermediate muscle-car offering. By 1976 the model had moved into a more refined look while retaining the long hood and short deck proportions that defined the era. The two-door coupe body remained popular with buyers who wanted performance styling without a full convertible.

Starsky & Hutch used a red 1976 Gran Torino as the signature vehicle for the detectives, and the car quickly became an icon of 1970s television. Replicas built to match season-two details recreate the white vector stripe, roof light placement, and interior radio setup that appeared on screen. The body style and color combination continue to read instantly as period-correct for stories set between the mid-1970s and early 1980s.

Ohio Picture Car Rental Uses

Crews filming in Ohio can use the 1976 Ford GRAN TORINO for establishing shots that need a 1970s street presence. Its red paint and white stripe give strong visual texture in background plates or wide city scenes set in that decade. The detective-car configuration also works for character-driven sequences where the vehicle itself signals the role of the occupant.

Still photographers and music-video directors have another option when they want a muscle-car silhouette without modern wheels or body kits. Event planners staging 1970s-themed gatherings or branded activations can place the car as a static display that draws attention. Because the car is listed as comfortable for daily driving, transport between locations within Ohio remains straightforward.
